How do I create that which I have not witnessed?
How do I make something that I have not seen?
I stand at the edge of my own imagination,
A spoken word poem, a whisper in the void.
Generational curses are all I’ve ever known
When it comes to relationships,
A tapestry woven with threads of the past,
Patterns repeated, shadows cast.
I am self-aware, determined not to be
Like my mum and dad,
Their dances of discord echo in my mind.
I seek to break the cycle, to forge my own path.
I read the Bible and it becomes my foundation,
A starting point, a guiding light.
But dear God, how do I do what You instruct
In Your word, when I have not seen it done?
I breathe deeply, and I ask:
How do I break the chains of ancestry?
How do I create love that is pure,
Unmarred by the ghosts of yesteryear?
I lean into faith, trusting the unseen,
Crafting love with hands that tremble,
Eyes fixed on the horizon of what could be,
Not what was.
It is in the not knowing that I find my strength,
In the uncharted waters where my courage grows.
I am the author of my own story,
The architect of a new legacy.
I choose kindness over inherited chaos,
I choose love over learned fear.
In every word, every action, I create
Something new, something unseen.
So God, I lean on Your wisdom,
Your word is the blueprint I follow.
Teach me to build with compassion,
To love with a heart unencumbered.
For in the creation of what I have not witnessed,
I find myself, and I find You.
