“Mind the gap between the train and the platform” bet you read that in your train voice.
For those who dont live in the City of London its our train announcement just as it sets to depart from one station to the next. They say she’s called GRACIE. The bay area rapid text to speech system (BART) A distinctive voice heard all over London platforms. Well friend, you have taught me more than just healthy and safety on the tube.
You see Gracie between you and George (her male equivalent). You’re a reminder to stay still, to take time, to find that precious gap between the train and the platform. Here, in this pause, we discover the essence of being—space to breathe, to dream, to just be.
In that gap, we gather fragments of thoughts and dreams. It’s a mosaic of memories—glimpses of the past, whispers of the future. It’s where we reclaim what we lost or even uncover what we never knew we needed.
Each moment suspended in time is an opportunity to reflect and renew.
In that gap there’s something to gain and garner, a lost watch, phone or purse and in my case wisdom and grace.
Think of Joseph in the pit. In that darkness, he discovered light, a strength that transformed his despair into hope. It was in the depths of his struggle that he sharpened his vision, dreaming of possibilities beyond his present circumstances. He gathered his strength, preparing not just to survive the pit, but to thrive in the palace that awaited him.
In the gap, we, too, prepare for the next step, the leap of faith. It’s in the quiet that wisdom speaks, where stillness transforms us. Here, we shed old skins, ready to journey forward renewed, with clarity and purpose. Imagine if there was no gap! Just think about it? How would we get back what we lost? Whilst some things are better off lost than found, other gaps are a gateway to experiences we’ve been waiting for.
“Mind the gap,” they say, not just between the train and the platform, but between what is and what could be. It’s in that sacred space that we truly find ourselves, where the answers we seek guide us home, illuminating our path toward the future we dare to dream. So let us embrace the gap—our sanctuary of growth, reflection, and rebirth.
I found you, yes you, the reader, in the gap.
